Hi, Office Insiders! Today, we are excited to announce the launch of Teams Public Preview and pre-release channel naming alignment with Office and Windows.

Teams Public Preview

Microsoft Teams continues to innovate at a fast pace while delivering an enterprise-grade experience to over 115M daily active users. We first launched pre-release access to Teams features via our Technology Adoption Program (TAP) over 4 years ago. This continues to be a private and under NDA program for all participating customers. Our TAP customers have been comfortable with some rough edges while providing constructive feedback.

As Teams adoption continues to accelerate, it is critical to make pre-release features available to more people. As a result, we can gather early actionable feedback and telemetry. So, we are excited to launch Teams Public Preview to allow customers to preview and evaluate features before they roll out to the rest of their company. Learn more about configure preview access for selected users in your tenant.

Aligning with Office and Windows

With this change, Insiders will find similar names and expectations for similar channels across Windows, Office, and Teams. As mentioned in this Office Insider blog post, our goal is to make it clearer for existing Insiders to choose the experience that’s right for them. Additionally, we want to make it easier for new Insiders to pick the right channel as they join.
